BRANNON R. DEWOLF
Welcome!
ABOUT ME
I came a long way from Southern California to Centre County and started my Penn State journey alone but unafraid. I travel often and thrive on meeting new people and experiencing whatever the world has to offer! I thrive most in dynamic and challenging environments, whether in the streets of Haiti or on a live news broadcast. After college, I'm ready to be anywhere I'm wanted or needed.

EXPERIENCE
RADIO NEWS INTERN, WPSU
January 2020 -May 2020
At WPSU I was given the opportunity to work for central Pennsylvania's only NPR/PBS member station. I became a better writer and reporter by chasing leads, establishing contacts and taking direction from the station's excellent leadership. Some of my stories from this experience are available to play on this website. I was also asked to assist with the Vision 2020 election project, which I am currently still doing throughout the summer. Please check my SoundCloud for my radio work, it is some of my favorite.
COLLEGE ASSOCIATE, FOX NEWS
June 2019 - August 2019
At Fox News' D.C. Bureau I was lucky enough to be a small part of many shows and departments across their broad multimedia coverage production. I logged Robert Mueller's highly anticipated testimony, ran the Supreme Court's census question decision to our on-site correspondent, and was even sent solo to take notes at a press conference by the Venezuelan Ambassador to the U.S., among other highly educational and exciting experiences.
NEWS ANCHOR, PSN NEWS ON PSNTV
September 2018 - May 2020
I write four news readers for each show that I anchor as part of PSN News on the PSNtv student-ran network. As a news anchor, I am one of two lead anchors for each show. My duties include writing the news for broadcast and delivering it in an interesting and engaging way. Each show is typically broadcast live on at least YouTube and Facebook. I was also made Treasurer of PSNtv in August of 2019.

ACADEMICS
August 2016 - May 2020
JOURNALISM (BROADCAST)Â BA, PENN STATE
Through my broadcast journalism major, I have found countless opportunities to experience and learn about the ever-evolving media world around me. Through everything from writing AP style stories to putting together weekly radio news broadcast to associate producing a friend's student film, I constantly seek ways to become a sort of Swiss Army Knife for political news media and
media in general.
August 2016 - May 2020
POLITICAL SCIENCE BA, PENN STATE
I knew I wanted to study political science prior to attending Penn State. Politics are the other half of my passion. I've covered the bases from comparative politics to U.S. constitutional law, but found my true passions within political media and political psychology.
August 2016 - May 2020
AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES MINOR, PENN STATE
I am a firm believer that much of the world's conflict arises from not understanding each other or "putting ourselves in other peoples' shoes." My obsession with American history gave way to a thirst for knowledge on African American history, which revealed the trailhead to my AFAM minor.
COMMUNITY & LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
August 2019 - December 2019
TEACHING ASSISTANT (TA), MASS COMMUNICATIONS LAW
In the fall of my senior year, I was accepted as a Teaching Assistant for one of my favorite courses, Mass Communications Law. I helped fellow undergraduates learn a variety of topics including IRAC, defamation law, First Amendment issues, free speech and more. This course is required for Penn State undergraduates in journalism and other communications majors.
August 2019 - May 2020
TREASURER, PENN STATE NETWORK TELEVISION (PSNTV)
Although I truly started on my path through broadcast journalism just over a year ago, I've quickly capitalized on the opportunities presented to me. I joined PSNtv at the beginning of the Fall 2018 semester, made anchor for PSN News that same semester, and worked my way up as hard as I could. This year, I was chosen to help represent PSNtv as a whole in the role of Treasurer.
March 2019 - April 2019
DIRECTOR OF PR/COMMUNITY RELATIONS, IFC GREEK WEEK 2019
This is an exciting new opportunity that was extended to me following an application and interview process. I spearheaded every aspect of my position for such an important week in the Penn State community. I worked to ensure that diverse and underrepresented voices were heard and that opportunities were given to all while maintaining a strong PR strategy and common mission as Greek Week organizers.
August 2018 - Current
BIG BROTHER, BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF CENTRE COUNTY
I met once a week with my "Little Brother," a local elementary student from a disadvantaged home. I did mostly what he wanted to do and made sure to stand as a positive and stable influence in what can be a dangerously unstable world for him and the other children.
November 2018 - November 2019
ACCREDITATION & PHILANTHROPY CHAIR, ACACIA FRATERNITY
I organized, oversaw, and executed all university accreditation and community service goals set by the fraternity and myself. I created event ideas for fundraising and community service for the philanthropic organizations we support and then ensured completion to our standard. I coordinated across multiple fronts including but not limited to the university, the fraternity and our partner organizations. The role saw significant expansion and improvement during my tenure.
February 2018 - February 2019
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE MEMBER, PENN STATE INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL (IFC)
I worked with the Communications Chair of Penn State's Interfraternity Council (IFC) to gather and write stories about the Greek community with increased focus on transparency and accountability.

MY SKILLS
ADOBE
I have basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative applications including Premiere, Photoshop and Audition. I am most advanced with Audition but practice the others frequently to gain proficiency.
NEWS WRITING & EDITING
My involvement in CommRadio and PSNtv have helped me acquire both video and audio editing technical skills. I am most profficient with Adobe programs but ready and willing to expand my horizons. I am also skilled in writing in both AP and broadcast styles to maximize story success and effectiveness.
STUDIOÂ SKILLS
My experiences have allowed me to gather and continuously hone a variety of skills relevant to the industry or industries I pursue. By anchoring PSN News, anchoring and reporting for COMMRadio, creating news and production worthy packages and wraps for both and spending as much time in the technical rooms as I do on air, I have learned and constantly strive to master a variety of skills that will be of use throughout my career.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
I love nothing more than meeting and learning about new people, places, and things. From Penn State to foreign countries like Haiti, I feel most comfortable around dynamic people and places that force me to learn about the world around me.
LOGISTICAL SKILLS
I like to think of myself as a "doer." I have proven experience in making individuals and organizations come together to execute a plan. I put the pieces of the puzzle together with my team, whoever they may be, and work to effectively communicate across the board so that ideas are heard and that those ideas become reality.
